The Haunted Hotel In Georgia Both History Buffs And Ghost Hunters Will Love

We have no shortage of haunted places in Georgia, and, in particular, the historic city of Savannah has quite a few locales where ghosts allegedly roam the halls. If you believe the legends, there are a number of haunted hotels in Savannah. One of the most famous of all is the stunning Kehoe House. This is an amazing building that manages to stand out even in a city full of architectural delights. It's a magnificent place for both ghost hunters seeking out spirits and lovers of history looking to enjoy a beautiful hotel.

Irish immigrant William Kehoe came to America in 1842 at the tender age of 10. He worked in an iron foundry and was so successful that he ended up purchasing the foundry and even building a new one.

By the 1860s, he was one of the most successful businessmen in Savannah.

In 1892, Kehoe commissioned a new home in Savannah's historic district for his growing family. The property was sold after his death and has been used for a number of different purposes.

Over the years, it's been owned by football legend Joe Namath, plus used as a boarding house and funeral parlor.

For the last few decades, it's been a bed and breakfast. The rooms here are magnificent and include made-to-order breakfasts and complimentary wines.

This place is incredibly stately and absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are named for people who played important roles in Savannah's past, like Georgia's founder James Oglethorpe and Girl Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low.

A stay here may give you more than you bargained for, though. Many visitors report seeing ghosts or hearing the sounds of children playing, even though the Kehoe House does not allow guests under age 21.

If you believe the rumors, two of the Kehoe children went missing and were later found dead in the chimney, where they had gotten stuck.

There's actually no record of any of the Kehoe children ever having passed away young in the home, but this urban legend lives on.

Whether you believe in the ghost stories surrounding this place or not, it's certainly a beautiful and historic home that's worth a stay for history lovers visiting Savannah.
