Book This Dreamy Campsite Along Georgia’s Brookside and You Won’t Be Disappointed
Unplug, explore, and unwind at Mulberry Gap—North Georgia’s unique blend of campground, adventure hub, and cozy retreat.
Camping can look different depending on the vessel you choose to rest your head in at night. For some, it's an RV, filled with all your favorite amenities. For others, it's a camper van parked right along a brook, where you can fall asleep to the gentle sounds of water lapping river rocks. For most, though, camping looks like pitching a tent right in the woods, surrounded by nature in every facet. Beginner campers might find the prospect of camping primitively to be challenging, especially when they don't have all the usual creature comforts available. I mean, using a camping shower is not for the faint of heart. Personally, I prefer camping like they do at Mulberry Gap in Ellijay, Georgia, where you can enjoy pitching a tent brookside, but also enjoy community spaces, hot showers, and home-cooked meals.
Deep in the North Georgia mountains, Mulberry Gap isn’t your average campground. It’s an outdoor-lover’s dream, pairing together a unique blend of rustic charm and resort comfort that caters to every type of adventurer. Imagine a place where a summer camp’s playful spirit meets the amenities of an adventure park, with primitive camping thrown into the mix. That’s Mulberry Gap.
Whether you’re arriving with a tent, rolling in with your van, or cozying up in one of the on-site cabins, Mulberry Gap sets the stage for an unforgettable stay. The property is outfitted with hot tubs under the stars, shuttles to get you to the best trailheads, hearty home-cooked meals that hit the spot after a day outside, and even beer and wine to enjoy fireside. There’s also the option for day passes if you’re just popping in for a short visit, plus events that bring the community together for fun, fitness, and relaxation.
What truly sets Mulberry Gap apart is its unbeatable access to adventure. The campground is located along the Georgia Pinhoti Trail and the Southeast Backcountry Discovery Route (BDR), offering direct access to some of the most scenic and rugged terrain in the Southeast. Surrounding trails and Forest Service roads make it an ideal launch point for mountain bikers seeking epic singletrack, gravel cyclists looking for a challenge, hikers eager to get lost in the woods, and adventure motorcyclists chasing sweeping mountain views.
The options to camp are abundant, from RV/group sites to van camping, and even a barn campsite. But my personal favorite is one of the brook campsites suitable for tents. The brook campsites are a more primitive option, streamside. These sites are ideal for one to two guests and include a 12'x12' tent pad, picnic table, fire pit, and bike rack. Located across a small brook, it requires a short walk over footbridges with parking 15–50 yards away. While the site itself has no electricity, guests have 24/7 access to running water and power at the nearby bathhouses and The Barn.
So if you’re planning a day trip, a weekend camping getaway, or a longer off-grid retreat, consider Mulberry Gap your home away from home in the North Georgia mountains. It’s time to unplug, unwind, and enjoy one of Georgia’s most inviting and adventure-ready camping destinations.
