A Peaceful Stay Near Skidaway Island State Park

A mid-century modern home in a quiet Savannah neighborhood will be the perfect home base for exploring one of Georgia's most stunning barrier islands.

Skidaway Island is one of Georgia's beautiful barrier islands, characterized by picturesque salt marshes and maritime forests. It's worth a day trip, to be sure, but we recommend taking a few days to immerse yourself in all that this region has to offer. And we've found the perfect home base: a quiet mid-century modern Airbnb just outside Savannah that's also a short drive from the park.

Most people travel to Savannah for the rich history and culture, not to mention the world-class dining and exciting nightlife. But there's a quieter side to Savannah, too, and that's exactly what you'll find at this three-bedroom home on a quiet cul-de-sac. The space can accommodate up to nine guests, with three bedrooms and six beds total. It's perfect for a family getaway or an outing with friends, perfectly situated to some of the region's best attractions but isolated enough to give you space and privacy when you want it.

The home is elegantly decorated, with an airy aesthetic, modern decorations, and beautiful windows letting in the natural light. There are two bathrooms and a fully stocked kitchen with everything you'll need for cooking and entertaining. If you are traveling with a group, you'll appreciate the flow of this home; there's seating everywhere, and the common areas have an open concept.

Each bedroom ensures you'll have everything you need for a great night of sleep. Lots of closet space and plush bedding mean you can settle in and stay awhile. Plus, you'll need to rest for all the adventures on the horizon! When you're ready to venture out, hop in your car, and a 15-minute drive will take you to Skidaway Island State Park. There's hardly a better destination in coastal Georgia to experience wildlife, scenery, and stunning natural beauty.

One of the best ways to experience the park is by hiking through it. There are six miles of trails to choose from, and one of the most popular treks is the Big Ferry Loop, an easy 3.5-mile loop that's well-maintained and easy to follow. It's a wonderful trail for spotting wildlife, too—keep your eyes peeled for alligators!

After a day filled with adventure, you'll feel grateful to return to your charming vacation rental. Spend time on the spacious back deck, enjoying dinner or a festive drink, and recount all the exciting adventures you shared with your crew. There's hardly a better way to end another beautiful day exploring Savannah!
