A Little Known Place In Northern California That’s Perfect To Get Away From It All

A windswept coastline, historic cottages overlooking the ocean, miles of hiking trails, world class golf courses...all this and more is available at this remote seaside escape that is perfect for the next time you need to get out of town. The Coast Guard House Historic Inn & Cottages is located in Point Area and an amazing coastal escape for your next Northern California vacation.

Built in 1901, the Inn has stood in this place for over 100 years. It originally housed Coast Guard rescuers who kept people safe while traveling up and down the rugged Northern California coast.

It was converted to an inn and is now a peaceful coastal retreat that overlooks the coastal bluffs of Mendocino County.

Guests can choose to stay in the inn or in one of the two cottages that have their own fireplaces and whirlpool spas.

It's located outside of Point Arena in southern Mendocino County. The inn is 20 minutes north of Gualala and 50 minutes south of the town of Mendocino.

The owners recently decided to stop serving breakfast and have been able to reduce the rate of the rooms. Despite this, they are extremely accommodating and are happy to recommend nearby breakfast places as well as activities to do during the day.

The rooms are bright, cozy, and very comfortable. You can choose to explore nearby towns, hike, or simply stay at the inn and relax. Other activities include kayaking, golf, visiting lighthouses, and shopping in the nearby towns.

No matter what kind of vacation you seek, the Coast Guard House Historic Inn & Cottages is a great basecamp for all your adventures. It's a lovely slice of local maritime history that's impossible not to fall in love with.
