This Arkansas Container Home Offers Unforgettable Night Sky Views

Celebrate Global Astronomy Month by taking a getaway and sleep under the stars in Arkansas.

There's nothing quite like looking up at a star-filled sky that can make us feel the mystery and power of the universe. I've always been in awe of the Milky Way, and stargazing always encouraged my imagination to run wild. While April is a month filled with spring flowers and waterfalls, it also happens to be Global Astronomy Month, during which we are all encouraged to learn about astronomy as we set our eyes toward the night sky.

Amid the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, a stargazing adventure awaits—a two-story container home in Omaha, a small rural town with a very small population. It's also just 35 miles to the north of Buffalo National River, a national park that became a designated International Dark Sky Park in 2019. You can visit the park to enjoy its dark, light-pollution-free skies at night and then enjoy more stargazing at this incredible vacation home.

Constructed with shipping containers, the Container Home is on a secluded property with panoramic mountain and Table Rock Lake views from its rooftop deck. You can even take a short walk to the lake if you'd like.

The interior is spacious, with an open-concept floor plan on the first level, including the kitchen, dining area, and living room space. While there's a slightly industrial feel, it's also quite contemporary with the choice of lighting fixtures, furniture, and cabinets. I am a massive fan of the green cabinets and the velvet green chairs throughout this space! The wood plank ceiling also adds a cozy feel to the home.

The Container Home has three bedrooms, one on the first level and two on the second level. Downstairs, off the main living space, is a primary bedroom with a king-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom. A clothing storage area, a TV, and room-darkening shades complete the space.

Head upstairs, and that's where you'll find two additional bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two sets of bunk beds. If you were wondering if this is a family-friendly vacation home, it absolutely is! The room with the queen bed has its own telescope so you can get a closer look at the stars in the night sky.

Head outside, and you'll encounter the most enchanting views of the mountains as you sit on one of the home's decks. There is a rooftop deck, one on the second level, and a wraparound deck below. The wraparound deck has a hot tub and a small pool just off it. There's also an outdoor dining table if you'd like to dine with a view. There's such a generous amount of space inside and outside, so you will have plenty of options for where to spend your time.

Due to its location, dark skies allow for epic stargazing, whether from the rooftop deck, the hot tub, or around the fire pit. Maybe you'd even like to walk down to the lake to stargaze from there. Whatever you choose, just know that on a clear night, you'll be able to see an infinite number of stars.

This Container Home in rural northern Arkansas is exceptional, with incredible amenities and the perfect stargazing destination. I happen to love everything about this home. If you'd like to sleep under the stars in Arkansas, you can book your stay on Airbnb.
