1. Farm Cottage by the Creek, Cornville
- Location: Cornville, AZ
- Space: 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom (sleeps 2 guests)
- Price: $290/2 nights
- Amenities: Canal view, desert view, AC/heat, indoor electric fireplace, Wifi, private backyard, outdoor dining area
- Rating: 4.93/5 stars
If you enjoy nature, wineries, and water, spending time at this creekside farm cottage in Cornville is a must. Located on a working farm with views of Jerome, this 600-square-foot cottage will feel like your new home away from home. With one bedroom and one bathroom, this is a perfectly cozy space for two. Outside, there's a bistro table where you can sit and watch birds as well as the creek. Visit animals on the nearby farm, like sheep, pigs, goats, cats, dogs, donkeys, and more.
If you want to venture off the property, visit one of the area's many fine wineries or spend some time in nearby Jerome. One of our favorites has to be the Caduceus Cellars tasting room on Main Street. Just keep in mind that there's no in-home washer and dryer on site—you'll need to go to a laundromat nearby. Either way, the sights and sounds of the gorgeous bubbling creek out back are worth the stay.
2. Luxury Creekside Retreat, Sedona

Who doesn't love a trip to Sedona? I love taking day trips here! Its otherworldly landscape of red rocks is utterly enchanting to me. While Sedona can get a bit crowded and touristy, especially downtown, there are ways to escape the crowds and feel off the grid for a bit. How about a cozy, secluded retreat along Oak Creek? This orange cottage has everything two guests need, including a plush king-size bed, outdoor furniture, and even a private hot tub.
Spend your days fishing or admiring Oak Creek, head to the shared beachfront access for a day in the sun, or venture to the plethora of parks and off-roading tours in town. We highly recommend hiking around Cathedral Rock. This space is well-equipped for summer weather, but like the first place, it doesn't have a washer and dryer, so pack light. It's one of the most unique places to stay in Arizona!

After a day of swimming in the pristine Arizona lake, head inside to play ping pong in the game room or enjoy a movie night in the plush living room.
This retreat is perfect for a family summer vacation—you can even bring the dog along, too! It's not too far from town, either, in case you need to go grocery shopping for more supplies. Spend evenings barbecuing and watching the sun set over the water, and soak up time with those you love. As far as Arizona outdoor adventures go, this place tops our list. You can even go horseback riding nearby at Porter Mountain Stables.

Not only will you have a dock overlooking the sparkling water, but you will also have a private hot tub where you can watch the sunset on the horizon. While this Sam's Beachcomber Resort home can sleep up to five guests, we think it's perfectly cozy for a romantic retreat with your sweetheart.
Bring your boat and park it at the Mooring buoy right in front of the home, spend a day swimming and sunbathing near the lake, or rent a golf cart for an extra $100 to explore the surrounding resort. With a shared pool, recreation center, and gym located right on resort property, you never really have to leave during your stay! Unless you want to visit the stunning Lake Havasu State Park.
The Best Time to Book Arizona Waterfront Getaways

While it's great to have a summer vacation in a lake- or riverfront town, Arizona is known for extreme heat during June, July, and August, making it less than ideal for a trip. It's hard to be outside when temperatures reach the 110s Fahrenheit! Because of this, we recommend booking Arizona trips in late Spring or early Summer (like March-May) or early fall (September). These time frames see hot temperatures, but they're manageable, and the water will still be swimmable.
Before you book your Airbnb, check weather forecasts for your desired dates. And once you're there, practice outdoor heat safety by seeking shade when possible, drinking plenty of water, and wearing lots of sunscreen, even if you plan to spend the day swimming.
There you have it: five amazing Arizona places to cool off during warm weather. Are you thinking about booking one of these luxury waterfront homes for your next vacation? If so, start planning your trip itinerary today—you can use these other Arizona weekend getaway ideas for inspiration.
