Arizona is brimming with campgrounds that deserve a spot on your bucket list, but none quite compare to KP Cienega. Tucked away nearly 9,000 feet high in the White Mountains, this sprawling, evergreen meadow truly looks like a scene from a storybook.
Nestled way up in the White Mountains, KP Cienega Campground sits at an elevation of almost 9,000 feet.
One of the highest campgrounds in Arizona, it's a welcome respite from the grueling heat during the summer months.
The campground is basically a sprawling meadow that looks like it was plucked straight from a fairytale.
When the sun shines down and hits the grass just right, you can't help but stare in awe.
With five single unit sites, KP Cienega can accommodate trailers and motorhomes up to 16 feet wide.
There are no hookups, but picnic tables, restrooms, and fire rings with cooking grills are available.
There's a good chance you'll have the campground all to yourself, as it couldn't be more of a hidden gem.
Only adding to the magic, the sheer solitude ensures you can make the most of your trip and leave feeling refreshed and closer to nature than ever before.
Directly adjacent to the campground is the KP Trailhead, which leads into the Blue Range Primitive Area via the KP Trail (# 70.)
And with sweeping panoramic views like this, you'll never want to leave.
You'll feel simultaneously on top of the world and as if you can see to the ends of the earth.
To access the campground, you'll drive 27 miles south on US Highway 191 until you see a sign that points the way to KP Cienega.
Turn left, and the campground is another 1.3 miles down the road.
Visit the campground's page on the Forest Service website to learn more.
