If you're in search of a warm, cozy spot to watch the aurora from, the Ski Land Lodge in Fairbanks, Alaska will provide you with a beautiful spot atop a mountain, perfect for aurora borealis watching. Of all the amazing things to see during the Alaska winter, the northern lights is one that most people go out of their way to experience.

The aurora is something that every person in Alaska, tourist or local, should experience at least once in their lifetime. Due to its latitude, Fairbanks is an excellent spot to look for aurora borealis!

This lodge is located at the Cleary Summit which overlooks the Poker Flat Research Range.

It's approximately a 30-minute drive from Fairbanks, which means you have zero light pollution to obstruct your gorgeous night sky! Because you're on the top of a mountain, you have 360-degree views all around you.

The best months for aurora viewing tends to be September through March.

Ski Land Lodge offers its warm buildings for northern lights viewing from October 1st to April 12th. There's also an "Aurora Host" on-site that can answer questions you may have about what you're seeing!

They also offer limited dining options at their "Aurora Cafe."

It serves up food, snacks, beer, and wine for you to enjoy while you're scanning the night skies. There are also huge windows in the cafe, so you won't miss the show while you're grabbing something to eat!

After a stint outside taking photographs, head into the Aurora Cafe to warm up by their fireplace.

They also have a flat-screen television that tracks the activity of the aurora, so you know which direction to look when you head outside.

Ticket prices are $30 and include hot chocolate, tea, and coffee all night long.

Tickets don't include transportation, but if you don't have a car, there are many options. Lyft, Uber, and taxi services all will make their way out to the Ski Land Lodge.

You can visit this lodge seven days a week to try and view this natural wonder.

Every day of the week, you can visit the lodge from 9 p.m. through 3 a.m. Saturday through Monday, the lodge is also open during the day and although you won't see any aurora during daylight, the views are also spectacular when the sun is up!
