This Lakeside Farmhouse Airbnb in Alaska Looks Like It Belongs in Scandinavia
This farmhouse Airbnb in Wasilla brings Scandinavian-style, cozy interiors, and peaceful views together in one unforgettable stay.
I married a man with strong Scandinavian roots, and visiting countries like Norway and Denmark is high on our bucket list. I want to marvel at the glaciers and fjords of Norway and explore the castles in Denmark. I want to experience for myself what makes people living in Scandinavian countries so happy (they are considered some of the world’s happiest people after all), and enjoy a few moments filled with peak hygge vibes. While visiting Scandinavia isn’t likely to happen anytime soon for me, I have found a lakeside Scandinavian Farmhouse Airbnb in Wasilla that offers a taste of the culture, architecture, and coziness that I seek. This Airbnb in Alaska looks like it belongs in Scandinavia, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
The Best Features of This Airbnb in Wasilla, Alaska
This Alaska vacation rental is the type of place you need to experience for yourself. Built in 1942, this farmhouse is one of the oldest homes in the area. When you arrive, the beautiful white panel exterior of the home and the arctic entry, where you can remove your winter clothing before stepping inside the warmth of the farmhouse, will impress you. This Airbnb is large enough for a family, with three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, comfortably sleeping up to six guests. As you walk into the main living room, you may find yourself gawking at the large windows that let in ample natural light and offer gorgeous views of the lake and mountains right outside.
The kitchen is quite large and features everything you need to make preparing each meal a simple and enjoyable process. Each bedroom features cozy bedding and plush queen mattresses to ensure you are comfortable throughout the night—and so you can sleep in late as well.
This home was recently renovated by a Nordic architect, and you’ll spot details throughout the property that encourage peak hygge vibes. I particularly love the Scandinavian art on the walls, the minimalist design in each room, the white spruce ceilings, the clean lines, and the natural light. I recommend you bring your favorite book and blanket and snuggle next to the gas Jotul wood stove for a few moments of pure relaxation as well. You deserve some time to just be still.
Of course, the inside of the home is beautiful and comfortable, but the outdoors is just as lovely. A side yard offers even more lake views, and a charcoal barbecue and fire pit are the perfect gathering place for your family and friends to laugh and converse during the warmer months of the year. If you want to spend time near the water, you may find a rowboat tied to the dock, allowing you to spend a few moments lazily rowing along, watching wildlife play in the water, and listening to the soundtrack of nature.
