Wyoming Is Home To The Most Unique University In The Country
The University of Wyoming in Laramie is a unique and top-ranked institution known for its academic excellence, sports achievements, and scenic location.
Wyoming is a pretty unique state, and those of us who either grew up here or have lived here can agree there's no place like it. One thing that's always been a little strange to outsiders is that Wyoming is home to only one four-year university, while every other state has at least two. Well, America, we don't need more universities in Wyoming because UW is already one of the best colleges in the US.
UW is definitely one of the most unique colleges in Wyoming (and in the entire country!). If you're wondering "Where is the University of Wyoming?" it's located in beautiful Laramie, a scenic and historic city about 50 miles west of Cheyenne.
U-Dub is actually four years older than Wyoming itself...
...and it was so important to the founders fighting for statehood that they actually wrote the Laramie location into Wyoming's constitution.
This beautiful campus is home to seven colleges and more than 120 degree programs, including multiple doctorate paths.
These classrooms have turned out dozens of politicians, thousands of doctors and lawyers, countless famous athletes, engineers, and scholars, and one Vice President of the United States of America.
Just wandering around here will show you that you're really in a different world.
Wyoming's War Memorial Stadium is the highest college stadium in the country, but we like to think it's our rowdy crowds that are making opponents dizzy.
There aren't many colleges who have a rodeo team, and the Pokes are consistently ranked among the top rodeo athletes in the country.
Because we're Wyomingites, though, we don't only excel in just one sport. Despite Rugby being a club sport here in Laramie, the Cowboys have been known to defeat D1 schools in this rough and tumble sport.
Beyond sports and academic life, the University of Wyoming is simply incredible based on location. Outdoor Magazine named it the country's best adventure college, thanks to the close proximity of the Snowy Range.
