Wisconsin is home. There doesn't seem to be much reason to ever move away, but, if for some reason you're forced from our friendly borders, there are plenty of things you'll find yourself longing for about life in Wisconsin. Here are the things people love about living in Wisconsin and several reasons why you'll never want to leave.

1. I can't believe I miss the smell of farmland in the summer.
As a kid, the miles and miles of farmland between here and wherever you're going were not only boring, but they smelled bad. There's something oddly nostalgic and comforting about those sights and smells when you don't have them anymore.
2. They closed school for this?
We're well accustomed to the snow, ice, and general yuckiness that winter brings. When living in Wisconsin, we will shovel in our shorts, celebrate when the temperature is above 35 degrees Fahrenheit, and generally be unphased by the unpleasantness winter can bring. Then, we'll strap on some skiis or hit the snowmobile and enjoy it.

3. Wow, where's all the good cheese?
We know we have delicious dairy, but we don't really KNOW it until we visit another area of the country. The delicious cheese is just one of the things people love about living in Wisconsin.
4. What do you mean there's no deer hunting weekend?
Alternatively: "Where's our blaze orange?"

5. You call that an Old Fashioned?
Though the cocktail is definitely more popular outside Wisconsin than it used to be, good luck finding a place that'll make a well-muddled brandy Old Fashioned the way you learned as a kid.
6. I don't have an accent!
Doesn't it seem like so many of our towns are named just to exploit our round Os and nasal delivery? When moving to Wisconsin, we suggest you start working on our accent!

7. Where's the fish fry?
Sure, it started as a Lenten tradition, but Friday fish fries are a staple all year long and we expect them no matter the season. And, we want rye bread, coleslaw, and potato pancakes as our options, thank you very much.
8. Oh look, a Badger!
You'll get adept at picking out a Motion W or Bucky Badger on a piece of clothing from 1,000 paces. With Packer supporters from all over, this becomes the crucial way to spot a fellow Wisconsinite out in the wild.

9. I should have taken advantage of the farm-fresh food when I could.
We produce some of the best dairy, fruits, vegetables, and livestock in the country. Farm-to-table isn't just a movement, it's a way of life. While living in Wisconsin, we are incredibly blessed by our access to fresh food.

10. You call that a brat?
When I lived down south, I could buy something that was called a brat, but that was probably a generous naming choice.
11. Where's the green space?
We have so many state, county, and city parks. We really take care of our scenery and make it available to the public. You'll find yourself wondering where all the green space is when you move elsewhere.

12. This Bloody Mary is naked.
From ornate garnishes to the beer chaser, a Wisconsin Bloody Mary is a special kind of drink and too many other folks leave those very important details out.
13. I wish I was at Lambeau.
There are a lot of rabid fanbases out there, but few have the lifelong connection to the team that we do. Heading to Lambeau, tailgating, and carving out a few hours on Sundays are almost a devotion here. Lucky for you, there seem to be Packer fans (and Packer bars) everywhere around the world.

14. I really enjoyed having four seasons.
There's just something about marking the passage of time with the distinct seasons. The beauty year-round is one of the things people love about living in Wisconsin.
15. Wait, you don't have a festival for that?
From Milwaukee's summer-long stretch of festivals to the tons of small-town food festivals, in Wisconsin, if we love something, we build a party around it.

16. I miss the sunsets.
With our amazing and varied terrain, sunsets here can be over valleys, farmland, water, glacial formations, and more. We wouldn't want it any other way.
17. There's no place like home!
No matter how far away you roam, there's nothing better than coming home.

There's no denying that living here in Wisconsin creates a certain kind of person. We are a bit odd and quirky, and we tend to pick up even more habits the longer we live here. From reserving our Friday nights to a long-term rivalry with our neighbors, some things just don't change. After all, you can take the Wisconsinite out of Wisconsin, but you can't take the Wisconsin out of the Wisconsinite, right? You know you're from Wisconsin when you do the 14 things listed below. How many of these fun facts about Wisconsin do you agree with?

1. Reserving your Friday nights for a fish fry.
No matter where you go or what the season is, you never get over wanting to have some delicious fried fish alongside fries or potato pancakes and a cold beer. There is no better way to catch up on local Wisconsin news than at a fish fry.
2. Hoping your cheese squeaks.
There's just something so delightfully Wisconsin about cheese curds.

3. Preferring Brandy in your Old Fashioneds.
Preferring Old Fashioneds at all, really.
4. Using vacation time to sit out in the cold while looking like a traffic cone.
I won't pretend that I understand, but I do know that planning for a deer hunting weekend can be more of a production than some formal events.

5. Disliking all things Minnesota and Chicago.
Hate the Bears! Hate the Cubs! Hate the Vikings! Hate the Gophers!
6. Standing over a hole in the ice with a spear in hand hoping a big fish will swim right under the hole that's been drilled.
You do you, people.

7. Being a cheese snob.
My mother in Tennessee told me this week that she couldn't find Gruyere or Fontina anywhere. That seems unfathomable here where we have the very best cheese at our fingertips at all times, but that's what she gets for leaving Wisconsin.
8. Preferring brats to all other cased meats.
Miller Park is the only stadium in Major League Baseball that sells more brats than hot dogs. It's because they're amazingly delicious!

9. Calling it a TYME Machine.
This one is falling a bit out as so few of us actually use ATMs anymore, but it's still one of those ingrained localisms you never quite lose.

10. Grilling no matter the weather.
We're not really fazed by snow, and we know a grilled brat, steak, or hamburger is far superior tasting to one that isn't. Because of this, we'll grill out anytime, anywhere.
11. Heading up north.
If you don't have a place up north, odds are you know someone who does. Up north is as much a state of mind as it is a direction.

12. Calling it a bubbler.
At the very least, it's a drinking fountain. A water fountain is a baby Cupid spitting water in a fancy garden.
13. Expecting your Bloody Mary to come with accouterments and a chaser.
We don't always need the whole kit and kaboodle with a Bloody Mary, but a meat stick, some cheese, and some celery go a long way. And that chaser is pretty uniquely Wisconsin.

14. Measuring distance in time instead of miles.
This one irritates folks out east who sit in traffic pretty much constantly. Because of this, they find it impossible to know how long something will take. Here, we're pretty much tied to the one mile = one minute version of mileage marking. According to this sign, we should be in Green Bay in about 17 minutes.
