What's not to love about Vermont? Along with being one of the most scenic states in the country, there's tons to do all year long. When it comes to outdoor activities, you can opt to take a dip in a local swimming hole on a hot day, slide down a ski slope in the winter, or listen to the sound of leaves when you marvel at the foliage while taking a hike in the fall.
If you've spent any time in the Green Mountain State, you know that the seasons are just one of the many perks for those who have strong roots in Vermont. Read on to learn about some more of the reasons why locals and visitors have an affinity for Vermont. I also invite you to Wear Your Roots and show your pride by rocking apparel and accessories highlighting Vermont.
1. You refer to one of the most scenic drives in Vermont as "The Notch".
As Vermonters know, Smugglers' Notch is a 3.5-mile route that meanders through some of the most picturesque views in the state (and country).
2. If it's not made in Vermont, it's not real maple syrup.
Due to its high standards, once you taste it, you'll never go back to using syrup that wasn't made in the Green Mountain State.
3. You're all about the 802.
As I'm sure you know, Vermonters are proud to live in a state that has only one area code. So, unless you live under a rock (as shown in this photo), we hope you now get what the 802 is about.
4. Summers are meant for swimming holes - not swimming pools.
Those with deep roots in Vermont, know there's nothing like cooling off in one of the numerous swimming holes throughout the state on a hot day.
5. You love the foliage but aren't a fan of tourists who take over the roads.
During the leaf-peeping season, the state is overrun by visitors determined to get the best shots of the vibrant leaves. While we're glad they appreciate our beautiful scenery, the crowds can grow tiresome to us locals.
6. You have no problem pronouncing Montpelier correctly.
While those with deep roots in Vermont can easily say the capital's name, visitors have been known to fumble with it.
7. You have a favorite craft beer.
With over 50 breweries in the state, it's not hard for locals to have a favorite spot or two to drink a brew.
Well, what do you think of this list of signs that you have a strong connection to the Green Mountain State? Feel free to share other examples in the following comments section.
