The Green River Reservoir in Hyde Park is located within the 5,110-acre Green River Reservoir State Park. One of our favorite parts about this scenic and fascinating area is its untamed and wild natural beauty. There are 28 remote campsites at various locations around the reservoir and the campsites can only be reached by boat. The reservoir is designated as a quiet lake under Vermont's Use of Public Waters Rules, and boats powered by electric motors up to 5 mph and human-powered watercraft such as canoes and kayaks are allowed. You'll never find it too crowded as use is allowed on the reservoir in limited numbers, and parking is is available on a first come, first serve basis. Enjoy!
The 653-acre reservoir includes about 19 miles of shoreline, one of the longest stretches of undeveloped shorelines in Vermont.
If you look closely you can see the top of Jay Peak in the distance.
Fall leaves are vibrant here as this picture beautifully captures them washing down the back side of McKinstry Hill and into the state park's lake.
You will find many interesting and picturesque spots along the way as you canoe along the Green River Reservoir.
A loon is about to touch down.
There is so much to see, do and explore at this magical place.
You'll love all the different areas to pull up your canoe and take a break, or perhaps a picnic.
Paddling along the water is peaceful and serene.
Hey... It's Vermont. The mountains are green, farms are bio, and toilet systems are recycling, of course!
The Green River Reservoir is so amazing, you'll definitely want to add it to your summer bucket list!
