Here Are The 13 Biggest Risks Living In The State of Vermont

Vermont living has its risks, but its unique charm and beauty make it worth it.

Vermont living is great, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t risks. On the other hand, there will be risks no matter where you live, so why not live in the best place in the world? With that said, here are the 13 biggest risks to living in Vermont.

1. Let's start with an easy one: the cold.

Winters can be brutal, so find a winter sport you love and embrace it.

2. You might not be able to get your car out.

This goes for snow AND mud. There's nothing like a good ol' Vermont snowfall.

3. Finding cell service in remote parts of the state can be tough.

It's not so bad when you're trying to "unplug" for the weekend, but what if an emergency pops up and you have to risk wandering around for a signal?

4. Overeating.

Between cider donuts and cheddar cheese, there's just so much amazing food.

5. Going broke from all of the delicious food.

Mac & Cheese, poutine, locally brewed beers... the gang is all here!

6. Outdoor recreation accidents.

Vermont is known for its gorgeous scenery and exceptional outdoor activities, but there is always a chance of an accident happening, whether it's an avalanche or a sprained ankle.

7. You’ll never settle for anything but real maple syrup.

Why would anyone want the fake stuff anyway?

8. Driving in the snow.

From black ice to falling snow, winter driving in Vermont can be like an obstacle course.

9. High cost of living.

An important question when considering moving to a new state is always, is it expensive? So, is Vermont expensive? The short answer is yes. Between rent/mortgage and taxes, prepare to get a second job.

10. Cold Vermont weather can wreak havoc on your skin.

Have plenty of lotion and lip balm handy!

11. You might develop a serious case of road rage.

There isn't much traffic here, but when you do encounter it, shortcuts are not always the best idea.

12. You might have trouble getting a job.

Jobs can be hard to find, and with the high cost of living, you’ll probably need at least one.

13. Never wanting to leave Vermont.

There is simply no other place like it.

There may be risks, but they don't overshadow why Vermont is the most underrated state!

What do you think? Is Vermont living without risks, or do you agree with these downsides of life in Vermont?
