1. Memphis
The city of Memphis has long been considered one of the most unsafe cities in the state of Tennessee, though it has gotten quite a bit better in recent years. The FBI reported 12,674 violent crimes, which makes it significantly the most violent city in Tennessee.
2. Nashville
Nashville is the second most dangerous city in the state, with 7,641 violent crimes reported. These violent crimes include anything from murder and rape to aggravated assault. You'll also find some really crazy laws in Nashville.
3. Chattanooga
It may shock some that Chattanooga is the third most dangerous city in the state, especially since it is tucked away in the hilly region of southern Tennessee. The city had 1,891 violent crimes.
4. Knoxville
Knoxville comes in just behind the city of Chattanooga, with 1,508 violent crimes on the docket. Despite making the list of the most dangerous places in Tennessee, Knoxville has also been named one of the top destinations in the United States.
5. Clarksville
Clarksville, however, hardly tipped the scale at 1,041 crimes reported. The city lies just outside of Nashville and is best known as the location of an Army Reserve Center.
6. Jackson
