Pennsylvania's a pretty awesome place to live. Do you agree? Just think of all there is to do. All there is to see. And, the people. Pennsylvanians really are a significant part of what makes PA so special. You can't go wrong - whether you decide to live here or just visit from time to time. Do you ever wish, however, there were some things people told you about living in Pennsylvania before you came here? Here are 10 things you might not have heard before heading to PA.
1. Pennsylvanians are one of a kind.
Sure, PA boasts some of the most gorgeous landscape in America. It’s a food, a nature, and a sport’s lover’s dream. What really makes PA so special, however, is the people. Pennsylvanians are genuinely friendly, welcoming, and all-around awesome people.
2. We have our own lingo…
And, it often differs based on where we live in PA. Easterners often say youse while westerners call ‘em yinz. Redd up your room. Outen the lights. And, the list goes on and on…
3. PA’s a really diverse state.
PA’s dotted with big cities, small towns, and tiny villages. Some people were born here and have lived here all of their lives. Others have moved here from other states and other parts of the world. Pennsylvania’s a melting pot of personalities and cultures. Pretty awesome, huh?
4. You’ll never run out of things to do.
No matter what your interests, you’ll find so much to do in PA that you might not get a chance to do it all. Pennsylvania’s known for its world class museums, eclectic mix of restaurants and entertainment venues, and festivals and events held throughout the year.
5. There are many delicious spots to eat and…
We live in a foodie state. Meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans will all find something that hits the spot. Craving homemade? Head to one of the Amish restaurants or quaint family restaurants that promise a meal like mom used to make. Essentially, whatever you’re looking for, you’re almost certain to find it in PA.
6. Places to explore.
Just when you think you’ve seen it all and done it all, you’ll discover some place new to visit in Pennsylvania. You have 121 state parks to choose from, and that doesn’t include the countless forests, county, and city parks. Historical spots – like Gettysburg and Valley Forge – abound in a state with such a rich history. And, don’t forget the natural wonders, like the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, that fill the state.
7. You’ll become an expert at finding alternate routes and…
Turnpike tolls just keep going up every year. Thanks to GPS and ingenuity, Pennsylvanians can find the alternate route to just about anywhere.
8. Spotting the gas stations with the best prices.
PA sports the highest gasoline tax in the United States. But, don’t let that deter you. You’ll soon become an expert at where to fill up for the best prices and the best routes to take to save you on gas.
9. You’ll have to make some tough choices.
Really tough choices. Are you team Wawa or team Sheetz? Do you cheer for the Pittsburgh sports teams or the Philly sports teams? You’ll probably figure out your allegiance pretty quickly if you’ve just moved here.
10. Once you move here, you’ll never want to leave.
