11 Unwritten Rules Every Columbusite Lives By ‘Til Death

Being a Columbusite is one heck of a fun ride. We're all pretty cool and we all follow some basic ground rules. Here are a few Do's and Dont's you should follow while living in Columbus.

1. Do tell everyone that Columbus was named the smartest city in the world.

That's right, we're the smartest, and they can't take that away from us now!

2. Don't drink any non-craft non-local beer.

There are just too many fantastic local brews to ever need anything else.

3. Do be prepared for a change in weather at any time.

Need I say more?

4. Don't miss out on summer festivals.

Comfest, Arts Festival, Latin Festival, Jazz & Ribs Fest, etc, etc!

5. Do drive overly carefully when it snows, rains, sleets, freezes over, etc.

Driving carefully is one thing, but when the city basically comes to a standstill — that's a bit too much.

6. Don't procrastinate on picking up hot dog buns on July 4th.

We love to grill on Independence Day and grocery stores just can't keep up.

7. Do hang out in the Short North or downtown on a regular basis.

Of course, you're going to Central Columbus bars whenever you get a chance, what could be more fun?

8. Don't think you won't have to drive through construction.

Something is always getting built, torn down, or fixed — always.

9. Do participate in races either by running or cheering on someone who's running.

We love to keep active and to support all the great race causes in town.

10. Don't underutilize the bike path and metro parks.

Walking, running, dog walking, picnicking, whatever you want — the space is there.

11. Do answer "O-H" with "___!"

Fill in the blank!

Can you think of any other unwritten rules? We'd love to know! Share them in the comments below.
