13 Undeniable Reasons Why Cleveland Will Always be Home
They say that home is where the heart is, and nowhere is that truer than in Cleveland. There's something about Cleveland that warrants our undying love. We all know the person who moved away only to return a few years later, or who travels the world but always comes back for Christmas, or who left ten years ago but still calls Cleveland "home". We might even be that person.
But here's a few reasons that Cleveland will always be home.
1. We aim for the stars
The Fountain of Eternal Life represents Cleveland's determination and ability to rise again (and again, and again). Cleveland believes in betterment, in second chances, and in triumph over hardship. What better place to live?
2. It's affordable
As much as we love Cleveland's spirit, we still have to consider practical living. In how many other cities can you live comfortably on a server's earnings? Where else can you get the perfect brunch (pictured) for $5?
3. It's an all-seasons city
Cleveland has four distinct seasons, meaning you get a hot summer, colorful fall, a perfect white Christmas, and a blossoming spring. As long as you have the right clothes, you can embrace every holiday and season with gusto.
4. Views like this
Although Cleveland is known for hard industry, Clevelanders know that it's actually a beautiful city surrounded by nature. There's countless amazing parks and reserves. Even the neighborhood tree lines are beautiful.
5. Lake Erie
Cleveland wouldn't be Cleveland without the lake. From summer fun to winter snowstorms, we owe a lot of our unique identity to Lake Erie. Whether it's frozen over, finally warm enough to swim, or lapping against the city skyline, we all love the lake. Plus, who could leave views like this?
6. The local produce
Apples, honey, corn, beer, or bagels, Cleveland does it right! Everything tastes better when it's homegrown or homemade. Large farms and tiny community gardens keep Clevelanders in no short supply of fresh, delicious produce. And you get the satisfaction of supporting local farmers.
7. Your local market
Where do you find your local produce? At the local market! Is your favorite part taste-testing fresh fruit? Haggling over sausages? Or the vendor who remembers your face and throws in a bit extra? The local market is an integral part of the weekly routine.
8. The locals!
No place is home without people, and Clevelanders are among the best! Your family and friends, your team's supporters, and the regulars at your local cafe all make Cleveland home.
9. Diverse heritage
Cultural diversity provides us with a lot more than just good food! This mural overlooks a community garden in Slavic Village, showing that no matter where you're from, you're welcome in Cleveland. All it asks in return is your love and your firstborn. Just kidding! (Sort of.)
10. Everyone is a cheerleader
Get out the jerseys, rally towels, and pom-poms - it's game time! National champions or bottom of the league, we'll rally hard behind our teams. It's all for one and one for all in Cleveland sports.
11. Unique comfort food
Kielbasa, pierogis, pierogi hotdogs, pierogi burgers, pierogi tacos... We really like pierogis here, and there's no substitute for Cleveland quality. No matter where you go, or how long you're gone for, comfort food can never be replaced.
12. World-class entertainment
We have the best metroparks, NBA team, and baseball team in the country. The second best art museum, the second biggest theatre district, and one of the best orchestras in the country. Cleveland is as diverse in entertainment as it is talented.
13. Because we're not done yet
Just like a book or movie, we can't wait to see what happens next. Cleveland is building, rebuilding, and revitalizing. New restaurants, businesses, buildings, jobs, people, and activities are popping up every day. This is an exciting time for Cleveland, and we want to be part of it!
These are just some of the many, many reasons we call Cleveland home. What makes Cleveland home to you? Tell us in the comments!
