These 8 Unbelievable Ruins In North Dakota Will Transport You To The Past
There are forgotten places in North Dakota that have long been left to turn into ruins, where nature is slowly taking piece by piece over decades until there is nothing left at all. Abandoned farms, ghost towns, and empty houses like these are hidden among the prairies as true testaments to the passage of time.
1. A grain elevator that has not been in use for decades, slowly falling to ruin.
2. Long since forgotten farm right by White Butte, which you can see part of in the background.
3. This creepy shell of a hotel is located in Palermo.
4. Ruins of a very old farm building just barely standing now, it is registered as a National Historic Site called Hutmacher Farm.
5. Empty, abandoned house near Williston.
6. Lonely schoolhouse on the prairies in McKenzie County, left to rot.
7. A well shed in the middle of a corn field near Absaraka. Not many years are probably left before it falls completely.
8. The Old Griffon Schoolhouse near Bowman, built in 1920 and since abandoned.
Abandoned places like these are small parts of history that have managed to remain standing - if only just - until today. There are many dying places in North Dakota that are completely void of life and slowly disappearing, like these ghost towns that haven't had any residents for years.
