In New York, there's always a new business going up somewhere nearby you. But what about the people who just want to remember the good old days? 1. Playland, Rye
For New York's residents this amusement park is a source of true nostalgia for several reasons. Providing entertainment to those in the surrounding areas of the Long Island Sound since 1928, this park was also used as a filming location for the 1988 comedy Big featuring Tom Hanks. 2. Lake Effect Diner, Buffalo
Straight out of the 1950s, this restored beauty is one of the last car-style diners in our country! Complete with retro decor and homemade food that will remind you why the Western edge of our state is so amazing, Lake Effect will fill your stomach with local ingredients and homemade breads and cured meats.

3. Transit Drive-In, Lockport
Family owned and operated, this Western New York drive-in was purchased in 1957! Run by three generations of the Cohen family, in 2001 Transit became New York state's largest drive-in when they added their fourth screen to the property! Featuring a snack bar that is decked out in wonderful retro decor, this place is also amazing because they offer Retro Movie Nights every Tuesday!

4. JELL-O Gallery Museum, Le Roy
Created to showcase the history of one of our country's favorite desserts, the JELL-O gallery highlights tons of fascinating information you never knew about the tasty treat and its company.

5. Hildebrandt's, Williston Park
While the actual Hildebrandt store opened in the late 1920s, the current family who owns and operates the ice cream parlor has only been running it since 1975. The owners of this establishment may have changed throughout the years, but the original candy maker's tricks and recipes have been passed down, always keeping the nostalgic taste alive and well.

6. Two Bit's Retro Arcade, New York
Let your inner child run free at this incredible New York arcade! Filled with some of your favorite old arcade games, this retro spot is the perfect place to grab a drink and enjoy a game of Pacman or Tetris!

7. Historic Village Diner, Red Hook
Opening in the late 1920s this nostalgic diner was played on New York's historic registrar in 1988! Embracing the fantastic era in which this diner was born from, the interior of this place will take you back in time instantaneously.

8. Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum, Jamestown
If this place doesn't take you back in time then I'm not sure what will! Opening its doors in 1966, the center and museum was created to "preserve and celebrate" the legacy of these two incredible comedians. Just a stone's throw away from the homes Lucille grew up in and her plot at Lake View Cemetery, the museum has been a longtime popular spot for tourists to visit.

9. Krisch's Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlour, Massapequa
Originally founded in 1920 in Brooklyn, Krisch's moved to it's current spot in the mid 1950s and has been operating here ever since! With its vintage decor still up and functioning, this is the perfect retro restaurant to grab a classic American meal finished off with homemade ice cream!

10. Jumpin Jacks, Scotia
Built in 1952 by the original owner Jack Brennan, this Upstate favorite originally started off as building only serving ice cream! After becoming a local success, the original operator retired and sold Jumpin Jacks in 1976. Still up and running today and always bringing in a warm crowd, this spot is the perfect place to grab a bite on a warm day and enjoy a meal down by the water!

11. Leonelli's Playland Arcade, Lake George
It's true, nowadays we have thousands of arcade games right at the edge of our fingertips that we can take with us anywhere and everywhere. With that said, there will still never be anything like the original stuff. Packed full of various arcade games and even an old school shooting gallery that will have nostalgia knocking your socks right off, this playland is one you won't want to miss!

12. Red Rooster Drive-In, Brewster
Opening its doors more than 40 years ago, this eye catching restaurant will take you on a trip back in time! Loved for their classic hamburgers and hotdogs, you'd being doing yourself an injustice if you didn't top your meal off with a delicious milkshake! Need more of a blast from the past?
