Buffalo Was Just Named The Friendliest City In The Country And We Couldn’t Agree More

Our Queen City has received quite a few accolades as of late. We were voted as America's Favorite City in 2016, as one of the safest places in the U.S. from natural disasters, and – most recently – as America's Friendliest City. We couldn't agree more!

Travel & Leisure readers voted Buffalo as America's Friendliest City for 2017.

This should really come as no surprise to Buffalonians. Our city is nicknamed "The City Of Good Neighbors," after all!

Buffalonians are friendly, talkative, and helpful.

If you've lived or visited Buffalo, you will likely agree with all of the above. We, however, have a few key points to add to the list of characteristics that make us the friendliest city in the U.S.

We support each other.

Western New Yorkers are givers by nature. We welcome refugees to our city with open arms while allowing them to embrace their cultures. We support philanthropic efforts and show up in huge ways for our neighbors. No matter what.

We go the extra mile.

Buffalonians aren't afraid to do a bit of work as long as the end goal is helping others. If you need evidence, just think back to the Snowvember snowstorm. Buffalonians went the extra mile (literally) on snowmobiles in order to help stranded motorists. Our friendliness knows no limits!

We're working towards the same goal.

Getting recognition from these "awards" is nice, but we're not in it for the glory. Buffalonians are simply kind and friendly out of the goodness of our hearts. More than anything, we want to see our city succeed. And it looks like we're on the right path!

Contrary to popular belief, nice guys don't finish last!

Whether you believe in karma or not, we don't think the rise of our great city is coming by coincidence!
