Living in Nevada comes with unique risks such as dehydration, getting lost, and encountering scorpions.

It's no secret that the Silver State is a great place to call home. With that being said, there are quite a few risks when it comes to living in Nevada. If you plan on moving to Nevada any time soon, you should definitely familiarize yourself with the following 10 risks:

1. Dehydration

Because the weather is hot and dry during the summer months, those who live in Nevada stand a really good chance of getting dehydrated. Be sure to always drink lots of water.

2. Getting lost.

If you're alone in the desert, it's very easy to get lost. Think about going with a tour group the next time you feel the urge to venture out.

3. Receiving a speeding ticket.

There are several small communities scattered throughout Nevada. And these small communities are known for having speed traps. Those who live in Nevada, and those visiting, always need to watch their speed. Nevada's law enforcement are not very forgiving in a situation like this.

4. Being highly offended.

There are many provocative signs located across Nevada, especially on the Las Vegas Strip. There's also a high rate of public intoxication happening all over the Silver State. If these types of things easily offend you, you may want to re-think your idea of relocating here.

5. Going broke.

Because casinos are everywhere in Nevada, it's really easy for people to go broke. If you enjoy gambling, be sure to limit yourself before it gets out of control. Numerous people move to Nevada and quickly develop a gambling habit. Then they end up losing everything. Don't let this happen to you.

6. Lack of cell phone service.

There are many towns in Nevada that are literally out in the middle of nowhere, and, of course, these towns have little-to-no cell phone service. It's irritating, but that's just how it is. But, there are also several small towns that are charming in every way. Make sure you plan a visit to these getaway destinations.

7. Being stranded on the side of the road.

The population density is low in Nevada, so it's easy to get stranded out in the middle of nowhere ... miles from anyone. Always remember to fill your tank before setting out on your adventure and make sure someone knows your route in case you get stranded and have no cell phone service. This way they'll know how to find you.

8. Hitting a cow or two ... or even three.

In Nevada, it's not uncommon to see cattle in the middle of the roads. After all, this is an open-range state. Yes, cows can be a huge nuisance, but please be careful and don't hit them. Not only will it hurt them, but have you seen the amount of damage a cow can do to a car? MASSIVE!

9. SCORPIONS!!!

There are 23 species of scorpion in Nevada. Yikes! Always remember to check your car, shoes, house, tent, etc. Scorpion stings are NO JOKE!

10. Being abducted by aliens.

Okay, so maybe this risk is a bit of a stretch. However, there have been many people in Nevada who have claimed they were abducted by aliens, so you never really know.
