Montana became a state in 1889, and in the last 130 years (and beyond), there has definitely been a lot of life lived in the Treasure State. 1. Students at Butte High School posed for this photo in 1921, which was published in the local paper, The Mountaineer.

2. This photo of Bozeman Station is from 1899.

3. Progress is being made on the Milltown Dam in Missoula County. This photo was taken in October 1908.

3. Here's a shot of Wisdom in 1939.

Only about 100 people live here today.

4. Recognize this beloved town?

It's Philipsburg in 1942. It really doesn't look that different.

5. Missoula, however, definitely looked different in 1942.
