Forks Of The Road Is A Small Historical Site In Mississippi That’s Bound To Make A Big Impression On All Who Visit
Mississippi is no stranger to historic monuments. However, there’s one that’s sure to make a lasting impression – and it’s Forks of the Road. The modest monument is small in size only. A must-see for all ages, it provides a plethora of information on one of the darkest times in the nation.
Natchez is full of well-known historic sites and attractions. It also boasts a few obscure pieces of the past, including Forks of the Road.
A grim reminder of the past, the historical site marks what was once the nation’s second-largest slave market.
Today, Forks of the Road features several signs, which boast a wealth of information about the historical significance of the site.
The informative signage discusses the slave trade in Natchez as well as around the South, painting a picture of the hardships faced by African Americans.
There’s more to the monument than informative panels, though.
Likely the most attention-getting aspect of the site is the chains laid in concrete. (Sure to evoke some emotion, you may want to have a few Kleenex handy.)
A small site that tells a big story, Forks of the Road is a must-visit for all ages.
Ready to visit? Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the signage, as it's not a huge site and easy to pass.
