We're number one! ... at least when it comes to the following items. Maryland has been ranked the best of the best when it comes to these things...

1. Blue Crabs

Okay, this one is obvious. Maryland is known as the blue crab capital of the world, and we couldn't be prouder. Whether you like steamed crabs, crab cakes, or any other variety of blue crab, there's no denying that crab is served best here.

2. Healthcare

Maryland is home to Johns Hopkins, which now consists of several medical facilities all over the state. Johns Hopkins is world renowned for its impressive doctors and procedures. Rankings for healthcare by state fluctuates year by year but Maryland is always among the top.

3. Public Schools

According to Public School Review, Maryland has yet again ranked number one for best public schools in the nation. Scores were assessed by school finances, student achievement, state assessments and more.

4. Household Income

5. Coolest Small Towns

Each year Budget Travel names a coolest small town in the nation and Maryland has had two towns featured within the last couple of years. Berlin claimed the title in 2014 and Sykesville followed in 2016.

6. Coolest State Flag
