Whether you realize it or not, Louisiana has been the filming location for many well-known movies. With its breathtaking landscapes and extraordinary cities, it's no wonder plenty of films have been shot here. New Orleans has hosted a plethora of movies from Anne Rice's spooky "Interview with a Vampire" to the cozy film "Because of Winn Dixie." No matter how gripping the story may be, the backgrounds are ones difficult to miss!
1. Because of Winn Dixie
The quaint town of Napoleonville, Louisiana, gave AnnaSophia Robb and star puppy the perfect chance to bond. What a cute pair.
2. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett can be seen in their first meeting on the corners of Royal Street in New Orleans' French Quarter.
3. Pretty Baby
The beautiful Column's Hotel was transformed into a Storyville Brothel to shoot this shocking film. You'd recognize that couch anywhere!
4. Double Jeopardy
Ashley Judd had to actually be locked inside a tomb in New Orleans' Lafayette cemetery! The thought gives me goosebumps.
5. Chef
This father son duo travel to New Orleans with food truck in tow and can be seen noshing on beignets in The French Market and jamming to music on Frenchman Street.
6. Ender's Game
Don't be fooled by the spaceships and futuristic setting. This movie was filmed in none other than New Orleans, Louisiana.
7. Twelve Years a Slave
This heart wrenching true tale was filmed in a variety of historic homes in New Orleans, as well as in Forest Hill.
8. 21 Jump Street
Recognize those towering pillars of the I-10 highway in Louisiana? The highway provided the perfect set for those harrowing car chases. I hope those actors were buckled up!
9. Deja-Vu
I'm getting the peculiar feeling I've already seen this movie. No? Okay. The exploding boat is a New Orleans ferry and the bridge is stretching over The Mississippi River.
10. Interview with a Vampire
The author Anne Rice was inspired by the spooky history of New Orleans so much, she deemed the city the setting of her scary vampire story. Nothing could be creepier (or better?) than a blood sucking Brad Pitt.
11. Final Destination
Prepare for your final destination...in Louisiana! New Orleans' cemeteries provided ample setting for some of the films' shots.
These movies are just some of many that Louisiana has provided a home for. Next time movie night rolls around, pop one of these gems in and see if you can recognize some of these unique backgrounds.
