If You Grew Up In New Orleans, You’ve Definitely Done These 9 Things
Growing up in New Orleans involves unique experiences and traditions that are cherished by locals.
Growing up going to parades, learning how to eat crawfish, hanging out in the kitchen learning your family's secret recipes... there's something special about growing up in New Orleans that you just won't experience anywhere else. If you grew up in New Orleans, you've definitely done these nine things.
1. Asked someone where they went to high school
Usually right after you learn someone’s name.
2. Asked someone how their mother is doing
How’s ya mama and ‘dem?
3. Referred to a color as “K&B purple”
And you know exactly what color that is.
4. Ridden the flying horses
Bonus points if you had a favorite animal to ride.
5. Pretended you were in a real-life fairy tale at Storyland
I mean, when you’re inside Cinderella’s coach, it’s hard not to.
6. You know the importance of Mardi Gras cups
We all know they’re the most coveted throw of them all. And since we missed out on this year’s cups, everyone’s stash is pretty weak right now.
7. Hit a pothole so hard, you audibly apologized to your car
And rubbed the steering wheel, and maybe held your breath hoping a tire light doesn’t come on.
8. Sat on the top of one of these bad boys.
Only in New Orleans would you put your most prized possession on the top of a ladder, stand behind it, and try to catch things flying at you.
And we wouldn't have it any other way. If you're from NOLA and recognize everything on this list, then you probably are familiar with the "can't get it out of your head" jingle from the Rosenberg's store. Check it out below from YouTube user Meglise (the jingle is in the first 10 seconds) :

And if THAT doesn't say "classic NOLA," we don't know what will! If you know some other things you'd add to this list, shout them out in the comments!
