That’s exactly how you would describe the town of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Not only is this town the perfect place to get away, but it is also one of the friendliest towns in Idaho.
Bonners Ferry is located at the top of the panhandle in Boundary County. This isn’t a large town as it has a population of approximately 2,600 residents.
This small town is established right on the banks of the Kootenai River. In the 1800s, this area became a popular river crossing for prospectors who were heading into Canada to search for gold.

Every part of this town is delightful. The mountain and river views make this a picturesque and beautiful community to explore.
The downtown area boasts a small-town charm. You’ll see many historic buildings and the pedestrian-friendly streets make exploring this small town simple and enjoyable.
When in Bonners Ferry, make sure to visit the Boundary County Museum. This museum is located downtown and is where you can find artifacts, exhibits, and information about this area and the Kootenai people.

The Rusty Moose Tavern and Grill is the place to go in Bonners Ferry when hunger strikes.
This restaurant serves sandwiches, salads, wraps, and other delicious entrees during lunch and dinner. The portions are large and everything you order is tasty.
The stunning Kootenai Wildlife Refuge is nearby and is home to hundreds of bird species and all types of wildlife.
This 2,774-acre refuge is approximately five miles outside of Bonners Ferry and is where you can disconnect from your busy life and find some solitude.
No matter where you go or what you do, you’ll find a friendly and happy community. In fact, the people in Bonners Ferry call their community “Idaho’s most friendly town” and we have to agree! It’s a charming town and the perfect place to visit when you need a pick-me-up.
