Westville is a reconstruction of a 19th-century town that contains 17 antebellum-era buildings furnished to represent life in a Southern village around the time of the Civil War.

Westville was opened in Columbus in 2019 after the buildings were moved from Lumpkin.

If you're not familiar with the concept of a living history museum, it's a museum that's set up as a walk-in historical re-enactment. Actors go about their lives just as people would have actually done many years ago.

The end result is that you, the visitor, are essentially transported into history and see what it would be like to have actually lived in the era that on display.

Westville features several actors who are skilled tradesmen, so you can watch crafts like leather-making, quilting, and blacksmithing just as it would have been done during the 19th century.

This is one of the oldest living history museums in the country, and a visit here feels like you stepped into a time machine.
