While the city is growing, we have always known how special this place is, and the city has quietly become the coolest city in the Midwest.

1. We're bustling with diversity.

There are numerous different cultures represented in Detroit. These diverse populations include: French, Belgian, German, Hispanic, Black, Polish, Greek, Italian, and Middle Eastern, and they have all contributed to Detroit's rich culture.

2. You can find just about any food your heart desires.

You can find just about any type of food here in Detroit. There are areas throughout the city that cater to specific types of food, like Greektown and Mexicantown, as well as cities like Hamtramck, which serves up delicious Polish food, and Dearborn, where you can find tasty Middle Eastern cuisine. The food alone easily makes it the coolest city in Michigan.

3. You can't beat the music scene.

Detroit dominates when it comes to music. Motown and Techo genres were both founded here, and there is always a show or two playing, whether it's at DTE Energy Music Theatre or a local band playing at one of Detroit's unique bars. Life in Detroit is lived to music!

Detroit's architecture attracts thousands of people and it's waterfront showcases the beautiful skyscrapers and buildings you can't see anywhere else. Next time you're walking in the downtown area, look up and take in the sights.

Henry Ford and eleven other investors founded the Ford Motor Company here, and our city is responsible for paving the first stretch of concrete highway in the nation. Motown Records was established here and dozens of influential musicians came straight from Detroit.

We are continuing to grow as a community and revitalize this city to make it one of the greatest in the country. With tons of new restaurants and shopping spots opening up and a new rail line to take us place-to-place safely, we have quietly become one of the coolest cities in the Midwest!
