According To Safewise, These Are The 10 Safest Cities To Live In Arizona In 2021
Safewise published its 2021 list of the top 10 safest cities in Arizona, with Florence ranking as the safest for the second year in a row.
Whether you're planning a big move or just want to stay vigilant, it's never a bad idea to keep up with the local crime rate. Safewise recently published its 2021 list of the top 10 safest cities in Arizona, and you might be surprised to see who made the cut.
1. Florence
For the second year in a row, this historic city is the safest in Arizona. It's the only city to report fewer than 100 property crimes.
2. Oro Valley
Jumping up one spot, Oro Valley saw a marked decrease in its property crime rate over the past year. It's one of only three Arizona cities on the 2021 list to improve in rank.
3. Gilbert
Also rising in the ranks by one spot, Gilbert had fewer property crimes than in the 2020 report.
4. San Luis
Although San Luis dropped by two spots on this year's list, it's the only city to report zero murders. That's pretty impressive!
5. Sahuarita
Breaking even in its ranking from last year to now, Sahuarita has seen a relatively unchanged crime rate. Its violent crime increased ever so slightly, but property crime decreased by several points.
6. Surprise
Another of the three improved cities, Surprise saw a decrease in both violent and property crime over the past year.
7. Somerton
Somerton is the only city in the top 10 to make its debut on the safest cities list this year. Its property crime rate decreased significantly compared to last year, so that's likely what earned it a spot.
8. Lake Havasu City
Holding steady at #8, Lake Havasu City maintained its very low violent crime rate from last year until now, simultaneously seeing a marked decrease in property crime.
9. Maricopa
Maricopa dropped a few spots compared to last year's list, likely due to a slight increase in the property crime rate, though the violent crime rate has decresed year-over-year.
10. Prescott Valley
Although Prescott Valley's violent crime rate increased slightly compared to last year, its property crime rate decreased significantly. This keeps the town in the top 10 (although it did drop one place from its rank on the 2020 list.)
