Located in the San Gabriel Mountains, the Angeles Forest spans 700,176 acres from Santa Clarita to Mount Baldy. Although you'll feel like you're lightyears away from city life, it's actually a pretty short drive from the Los Angeles area. The forest is full of recreational opportunities, some of which are bound to make you hungry. And if it's breakfast or lunchtime, head up -- way up -- to Top of the Notch in Mt. Baldy.
Top of the Notch is located 7,800 feet above sea level at the Mt. Baldy Resort.
To reach it, you'll take a 15-minute ride on the Sugar Pine Chair Lift #1. You can also hike 3.5 miles up a service road, but the lift is a much more enjoyable route.

We can't say we blame them, as this is truly a unique dining experience.
This restaurant would definitely be worth visiting for the views alone.
Order an ice-cold craft beer or a glass of wine and enjoy the expansive scenery.
Luckily, the food also happens to be delicious.
The menu is casual, but it's quite tasty.
Aside from a large selection of hearty breakfast items in the morning, Top of the Notch serves plenty of burgers, wraps, sandwiches, and salads.
Order at the counter and then find a seat with a great view.
