Head on to the town of Fallbrook in San Diego County and you'll discover some of the most magnificent hikes in southern California. This charming town has so many great places to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Here are six of our favorite destinations:
1. Santa Margarita River Trail
If it's a hot summer day, there's nowhere better to check out than the Santa Margarita River Trail. This five-mile trail has plenty of shade set right alongside the river.
You'll love the tranquil setting that will have you feeling so recharged. It's one of the most gorgeous Fallbrook hiking trails.

2. Karen Tucker Preserve at Heller's Bend
You'll feel completely refreshed along this half-mile trail. It winds its way through an oak-filled forest that leads to breathtaking views.

3. Los Jilgueros Preserve Trail
Love fairy tale trails right out of a children's storybook? Then we know you'll love checking out the Los Jiligueros Preserve. You'll find an easy breezy trail that's approximately one mile long. It's located in the most enchanted forest setting. This preserve has some of the most beautiful hiking trails in Fallbrook.
4. Dinwiddie Preserve
Wander through this 14.5-acre nature preserve for a refreshing break from the city. You'll discover tons of open space and a variety of native trees. Here, you'll see oak trees, willow trees, and towering sycamores. You can find out more on the Dinwiddie Preserve website.
5. Monserate Mountain Trailhead
The Monserate Mountain Trail is more challenging than most of the trails on this list but the payoff is totally worth it. It will take you straight to the peak where you'll experience soaring views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. You'll want to bring plenty of water along on this 4-mile trail, as it can be quite strenuous. If you're up for the challenge, this is one trail that will surely leave you feeling accomplished. It's one of the most spectacular trails in Fallbrook.
