This Swimming Hole In South Dakota Is So Hidden You’ll Probably Have It All To Yourself

As long as the temperatures are warm enough to swim, you'll be able to catch us outside, swimming and splashing around in our favorite swimming holes. Our beautiful state has plenty of them, and one of the absolute best is the epic Hippie Hole in South Dakota.

Tucked away near exciting Keystone, the Hippie Hole boasts stunning Black Hills scenery that makes it one of the most gorgeous places to swim in South Dakota.

Accessible by a short hike, your visit to the Hippie Hole will consist of not only a pristinely clear pond but also mature and shady trees, rocky cliffs, and wildlife sightings galore!

Spanning a short and sweet 1.5-mile out-and-back south trail and a .6-mile out-and-back north trail, this hidden swimming hole in South Dakota proves to be even more divine to swim around after working up a sweat during your hike.

While the end result of both trails is the same, please note that the out-and-back south path does require both extra time and fancy footwork, so please only attempt with these factors in mind.

Don't worry; the extra effort required on the longer trek is more than worth it. It's brimming with natural beauty AND leads to one of the best swimming holes in South Dakota.
