The Story Behind This Historic Hotel In South Dakota Will Send Chills Up Your Spine
The town of Deadwood has a sordid history of violence and lawlessness. When Seth Bullock came into town in 1876, it was a deadly place where murder was an almost daily event. Bullock was eventually named Sheriff of the town, and he built the town’s first hotel. Though Seth Bullock is long dead, many say he never left his hotel…

The hotel is three stories and was built with 63 rooms with steam heat and indoor baths. The hotel was the first in Deadwood, and cost $40,000 to build.








Guests report seeing the full apparition of Seth himself, often in the middle of the night. The showers turn on and off by themselves, alarm clocks go off, and even unplugged televisions operate.
