A Visit To This South Carolina Animal Sanctuary Is Perfect For Your Next Outing
Much of the Palmetto State is considered farm country. In fact, according to the Farm Bureau, in 2015, more than 25,000 farms (large and small) were located in South Carolina. But, there’s only one Cotton Branch Farm Animal Sanctuary. It’s a working farm dedicated solely to farm animals that needed rescuing. And whether you just want to take a tour and meet some of these adorable and loving creatures, or want to volunteer your time to helping with the upkeep of this amazing rescue farm, a visit here will touch your heart.
Cotton Branch opened less than 10 years ago and it's grown to take in a large number of farm animals in need, whether abused, neglected, or orphaned by a closing farm.
Rescued farms animals are slowly introduced into the farm, and given lots of medical attention plus hands-on care from the staff and regular volunteers.
If you've never been to a working farm filled with more than 200 farm animals, then you're in for a delightful tour.
From little pigs to hogs, goats, roosters and chickens, donkeys, horses, and more... this farm tour is like no other in the state. You'll find yourself rubbing elbows and hooves with some of the most adorable creatures you can imagine.
Plus, the tour is absolutely free; however, donations or supplies are always greatly appreciated.
Some people regularly volunteer to help with the chores around the farm. (The added bonus is obvious!)
If you grew up in South Carolina, then chances are good you've at least visited a working farm... but have you visited one where each and every animal is one that's been rescued and given a second chance?
