This Tiered Waterfall And Swimming Hole In South Carolina Must Be On Your Summer Bucket List
When you wake up to a sweltering hot day on the horizon and want an unusual place to cool off for the day, pack up the car and head to Westminster to Chau Ram County Park. This swimming hole in South Carolina sprawls all through this 400-acre park, including over a tiered waterfall that has a swimming hole at the base!
At 30 feet in height, Chau Ram Falls pours Ramsey Creek over a tiered waterfall with a decent plunge pool at the base. It's perfect for cooling off on a warm summer day.
Tourists who flock to South Carolina in the summer usually think the beach is the best place to be, but once you discover the fun of this waterfall park, you'll beg to differ. Westminster is located in the westernmost portion of the state — about as far away from the beach as you can get, without leaving the state.
The park is situated at the confluence of Ramsey Creek and the Chauga River. It has scores of wonderful little beaches and perfect spots to float and wade while spending the day in the water.
Additionally, the park's more than three miles of hiking trails provide a wonderful way to reconnect with nature in other ways, too.
As if all this weren't enough to make you fall in love with this county park, its main attraction, Chau Ram Falls, is right beside a parking lot - making it the most ADA accessible waterfall in the state. What's not to love about this hidden gem?
