The Anderson/Lake Hartwell KOA is ideal for a mini-getaway with the kiddos.
The small-ish campground has fewer than 75 campsites and currently boasts nine camping cabins that make camping with the kids in a cabin an affordable reality.
The rustic one-room cabins come equipped with beds and mattresses. However, you'll need to bring the bedding. They have electricity and air conditioning.
For those times when the family isn't out exploring nearby attractions, the KOA has a few fun activities the whole family can enjoy including mini-golf and a game room.
But you'll likely be wiped out after a day at nearby Darwin Wright Park, also known as Anderson Beach. This free park is only 9 miles to the north of the campground and less than a mile off I-85. It has a beach (but no lifeguards), picnic tables, fishing spots, and more. Learn more about it in this previous article.
A visit to nearby Lake Hartwell State Park is only 15 miles south on Interstate 85. Here, you and the kiddos can explore the lake via boardwalks and piers as well as hiking trails. Bring a picnic lunch and spend all day at this fun park!
At the end of the day, head back to camp to cook dinner, or just pop over to Portman Marina. The popular marina and a couple of restaurants are less than a mile away from the KOA.
There are many places to explore along the shores of Lake Hartwell. No matter the time of year, this KOA campground in South Carolina is an ideal home base for getting to know this beautiful man-made reservoir. For more information about Anderson / Lake Hartwell KOA, visit the website here.
