This Historic Rhode Island Restaurant Has Ocean Views Like No Other
The Coast Guard House has been captivating diners with its marvelous views and delicious cuisine for more than 70 years. Perched right on the edge of the water, this ocean view restaurant is one spot that Rhode Islanders flock to year after year. Why is this restaurant so wildly popular? Let’s take a closer look at this long-standing coastal gem.
In the late 1800s, the United States Life Saving Service, now known as the US Coast Guard built a solid granite station on the Narragansett Bay. Today, this same building is the Coast Guard House and has been serving fresh and scrumptious seafood since the 1940s.
The setting is absolutely picturesque with water views that stretch for miles. The location is just one reason why patrons return over and over again to the Coast Guard House.
Take a seat in the light and airy dining room where windows frame the views perfectly.
Or choose a spot outside on the deck for an up close and personal affair with the scenery.
The location will appeal to your eyes, but the food will take your taste buds on an incredible journey.
Plenty of mouthwatering appetizers are on the menu to tempt you. Try some freshly shucked oysters or steamed mussels to start.
Enjoy many choices of perfectly prepared seafood. Salmon, scallops, lobster, and monkfish are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to fresh offerings out of the ocean.
Prefer tastes of the land? Steaks, chicken, and pasta dishes are sure to please. Or dive into the succulent prime rib that is offered on Sundays and Mondays.
Feeling adventurous? Foodies can experiment with dishes like the BBQ Octopus. But if you're just craving a good old-fashioned burger, they have those too.
Looking for a new Sunday brunch spot? The Coast Guard House offers a unique brunch menu on Sundays from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
After you finish your award-winning meal, head outside and gather around the fire pits. This setting just calls for an after dinner drink.
