Steal a glance at Kids Castle from afar and you'll feel as though you're driving toward an old-fashioned fairy tale castle.
The sprawling community park, funded not by tax dollars but by Doylestown residents, boasts a storied history. It all started with the art contest in 1996 that led to the kids in the community designing and naming the park.
Architect Bob Leathers turned the winning drawing into a design and more than 3,000 volunteers worked together to secure the funding and the materials necessary to build Kids Castle.
The community-wide efforts resulted in the park being built in record time - only 12 days - and opening in June of 1997.
For two decades, the children of Doylestown have climbed the stairs on the pirate ship and have weaved fairy tales of their own...
Climbing and playing in the majestic castle that stands eight stories high.
Younger kids can slip down slides and kick their feet in the air on the tot swings in the area set aside for children five years and younger. The castle is specifically for children between five and 12 years.
Enjoy a day of play at Kids Castle, open daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
