Covered bridges in Pennsylvania are lovely reminders of a simpler way of life. At one time, Pennsylvania had more than 1,500 covered bridges. That number has since dwindled to around 200 today. Indiana County is home to four covered bridges, including Kintersburg Covered Bridge. Passing over Crooked Creek, this Pennsylvania covered bridge opened in 1877. It cost a mere $893 to build and shuttled traffic over the creek until 1974. Kintersburg Covered Bridge boasts a Howe truss design, the only one of its style in Indiana County.
