This Historic Pennsylvania Train Depot Is Now A Beautiful Restaurant Right On The Tracks
Most of us can only imagine what life was like in the early 20th century – when kids walked to school, outhouses were more common than bathrooms, and televisions had not yet been invented. Sure, stories told and photos shared by loved ones help make that time come alive. But, don’t you sometimes just wish you could experience a tiny piece of the past? This restaurant in Pennsylvania allows us a glimpse into a simpler yet elegant time.
Embrace the elegance of the past when you dine at the Grand Concourse in Pittsburgh, a former train station that's rich with history.
And, the 80,000-square foot train station would continue to thrive until the 1960s. And, long after its heyday, the historic train station earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
Four years later, Chuck Muer restored the station to its former glory, opening it as The Grand Concourse, overlooking the Pittsburgh skyline and the Monongahela River.
Of course, the enchanting restaurant serves a wide assortment of seafood dishes - from jumbo shrimp scampi and applejack sea bass to Alaskan king crab legs and mahi mahi.
Or, if you're not in the mood for seafood, try such delightful dishes as New York strip steak, smoked Gouda stuffed chicken, or filet mignon, for example.
And, make it a point to try the Grand Concourse's Sunday brunch, brimming with freshly-made donuts, an omelette station, prime rib, and house made pastries.
Indulge in a scrumptious meal at this historic former train station, open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Or, visit for Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
