6 Weird And Wacky Holiday Traditions You’ll Only Get If You’re From Portland
Christmas is different everywhere you go. Each community and the people in it have their own traditions that drive the season. Here in Portland we have several interesting traditions that people who aren’t accustomed may find strange. But like any good homegrown tradition, these are part of our holiday and we love them so.

Each year 250 tuba players gather in Pioneer Courthouse Square for an annual Christmas concert. The free event takes place this year December 9 from 1:30 to 3 pm.

Two Santa pub crawls take place annually, and if you want to get in on the fun, there is one left this season to participate in. December 16 the Stumptown SantaCon starts at the Splash Bar and promises a day of fun.

This 55-year-old tradition is still going strong and promises to delight over the holiday season. The star of the show is a choir formed into a Christmas tree and you must experience this tradition at least once.

This is a relatively new tradition, but considering the amount of buzz around hipster Santa, it's probably one that is going stick for awhile. Join hipster Santa, complete with a man bun and tattoos, at Pioneer Place for pictures through December 14th.

This weeks-long event takes place throughout December on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. Dozens of ships decorated in Christmas lights brighten the rivers with their fun annual display.

It's not Christmas if your dog is not celebrating too. Bring your dog on down to Winter Wonderland on December 5, and he can join his friends for a walk through the largest light show in the Northwest to celebrate the season.
