There Are No Other Drinking Fountains In The World Quite Like The Ones In Portland

You will never be thirsty in Portland with all the drinking fountains around. Known as the Benson Bubblers, these fountains got their start in 1912 when philanthropist and businessman Simon Benson donated $10,000 to the city for the creation of public drinking fountains. From the initial 20 fountains paid for by this grant at $500 a piece, the water downtown began flowing and has run freely ever since.
