You Have To Try The Oregon Restaurant Serving Up Pizza Certified By Italy
True pizza aficionados long for authentic pizza that’s made like it is in Italy, but that’s hard to come by in the United States. Sure, there are tons of tasty pizza parlors all over Oregon, but there’s only one in the entire state that’s certified by an organization in Naples, Italy. Looking for truly authentic pizza? Head to Bend!
While there are lots of great pizzerias in Oregon, Flatbread Neapolitan Pizzeria in Bend is the only one in the state that's certified by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN) in Naples, Italy.
You'll find Flatbread Neapolitan Pizzeria in the Old Mill District at 375 SW Powerhouse Dr., Bend, OR 97702.
This place is cozy and warm, and filled with the tantalizing aromas of baking pizzas. The huge woodpile fuels both the fireplace in the dining room and the wood-fired oven.
The pizza here is legit Neapolitan pizza. In order to be certified by VPN, it's created following very strict guidelines. Special Caputo Tipo 00 flour is used to create a soft, pliable dough. San Marzano tomatoes, grown in the ashy soil beneath Mt. Vesuvius are used, and every pizza is topped with fresh mozzarella and fresh basil.
The result? The most delicious pizza you can imagine! The authentic flavors and brick-oven-blistered crust combine perfectly for a pure Italian treat. Because the crust of Neapolitan pizzas is thinner that its Americanized cousin, most people eat this pliable pizza using a fork and knife.
Try your own small, personalized pizza for lunch with the "Pick Two" menu, where you'll choose two of the following: pizzetta, half sandwich, half salad, mac & cheese, and tomato basil soup.
You'll also want to check out the drink menu here. Try a glass of wine (or a wine flight!), choose from a large assortment of beers, or indulge in a specialty cocktail.
Stop by Flatbread Neapolitan Pizzeria seven days a week. It's open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m..
