In the heart of Hood River, Oregon, there's a little stretch of shops that makes for a perfect, family-friendly day trip destination.
This little shopping village features all sorts of locally owned businesses, including The Ruddy Duck, a boutique specializing in beautiful clothing, shoes, accessories, and wares for the whole family.
But the heart and soul of this stretch of shops is Mike's Ice Cream, a Hood River landmark for more than 30 years.
Open seasonally, Mike's specializes in hand-dipped cones and the creamiest, dreamiest shakes you'll ever have.
It's a perennial favorite for both kids and grown-ups, as the shop features a large green space with tables, chairs, and benches for families to convene while enjoying a cool treat.
You'll often find events happening on the green space outside Mike's, too, like live concerts and family-friendly festivals.
And while the adults are chatting and enjoying a show, there's an outdoor treehouse on-site that's downright irresistible for Oregon's littlest adventurers!
Oh -- and Mike's isn't just kid-friendly; this lovable little ice cream shop is dog-friendly, too! Bring your pup, and enjoy a true family-friendly day trip in Oregon.
