If you grew up or have lived in Massachusetts for some time, you have probably heard about the Brimfield Antique Market, a gigantic flea market that overtakes the quiet town of Brimfield several times a year. But have you ever visited Brimfield and attended this fabulous event? Let me tell you that it is quite an adventure. Whether you are looking for some unique furnishing, antique jewelry, or that hard-to-find collectible knick-knack, you are sure to find whatever you are looking for at Brimfield.
I attended one of the Brimfield Antique Shows several years ago, and I can’t wait to go back and do some more major shopping! Brimfield is the largest flea market in Massachusetts and is also the country’s oldest outdoor antique flea market. It is estimated that over 50,000 people will visit the markets in 2024. The fun takes place three times a year, and luckily one event is taking place soon!
From Sept. 3-8, 2024, you will be able to explore approximately 20 individually owned showfields full of endless vendors displaying amazing antiques. The fields will be buzzing with activity as enthusiastic shoppers descend on Brimfield in search of special end-of-season treasures. The event is held rain or shine.
I recommend coming early and allowing lots of time to shop. Each showfield features endless treasures to explore. Individual fields are open on different days and times, so you will definitely want to check the Brimfield Antique Shows website before heading out.
Along with rugs, tableware, books, baskets, collectibles, and high-end antiques, you can also find some unique gems. The last time I attended, I found old nautical items that I used to decorate our baby’s ocean-themed nursery.
Not only are there plenty of antiques to explore, but there is also lots of great food at Brimfield. Approximately 50 food trucks and other vendors will be selling a variety of yummy food items throughout the fields. Coffee, donuts, sandwiches, pizza, burgers, chili, tacos, and beer are just some of the options to choose from.
If you miss September’s Brimfield market, you will unfortunately have to wait until next season to attend. The market typically takes place in May, July, and September. If you are looking for more treasure in the meantime, I recommend visiting the Grafton Flea Market in Grafton and the Canal Street Antique Mall in Lawrence. Have you ever attended the Brimfield Flea Market? If so, what kind of treasures did you score? For more details about the market, please visit the Brimfield Antique Shows website and the Brimfield Antique Shows Facebook page. If you are looking to attend the markets over various days, I suggest booking a stay at the nearby Residence Inn Springfield Chicopee.
