Think scuba diving needs to happen in the ocean? Think again! Instead, head to Oregon’s Clear Lake, a fabulous, little-known scuba spot. Located in the stunning Willamette National Forest, Clear Lake has its name for a reason. Its crystal-clear water lets you see scores of feet deep, so even from above, you’ll get a fabulous view of life under the surface.

This stunning lake is about 142 acres and has a maximum depth of 175 feet. According to the U.S. Forest Service, Clear Lake “is one of the clearest and coldest lakes in the Cascades,” making it a perfect spot for scuba diving, virtually year-round. Both beginners and advanced divers will do well in these waters. Remember, to bring your wetsuits as the water is chilly. Non-scuba divers in your group can enjoy swimming, canoeing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the shoreline.
