Dining in local Oklahoma restaurants is pretty straight forward. We love comfort food, so you can expect to see large portions of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried chicken, catfish or mouthwatering bbq on the menus. Oklahomans are down-to-earth people who like laid-back, friendly, no-frills restaurants. We found 10 of the most ‘Oklahoma’ style restaurants in the Sooner State that will delight anyone looking for a true Oklahoma experience. Take a look and see if your favorites made the list.

1. Sid's Diner - 300 South Choctaw Avenue, El Reno
Oklahoma is famous for the fried onion burger and one of the best places to get one is at Sid's Diner. This nostalgic diner was featured on the Travel Channel and its small diner is the perfect atmosphere to enjoy an Oklahoma style burger.
2. Van's Pig Stand - 717 East Highland Street, Shawnee
Van’s Pig Stands has been doing Bar-B-Q right since 1930, and has been an Oklahoma tradition for decades. Famous for their hickory-smoked ribs, brisket and Pig Sandwiches, customers across the state and even across the country consider Van’s among the nation’s top barbecue restaurants.
3. Eischen's Bar - 109 South 2nd Street, Okarche
The oldest bar in Oklahoma, Eischen's, has some of the best fried chicken in the state. You get a great mix of history and fabulous fare at Eischen's Bar.
4. Cattlemen's Steakhouse - 1309 S Agnew Avenue, Oklahoma City
This list wouldn't be complete without the oldest operating restaurant in Oklahoma - Cattlemen's Steakhouse. Famous for their history and mouthwatering steaks, this restaurant draws in visitors from around the globe.
5. Kendall's Restaurant - 100 South Main Street, Noble
Kendall's offers great family charm, home-style cooking and melt in your mouth cinnamon rolls. You'll find some of the best chicken fried steak in the state, along with many other delicious offerings.
6. Hammett House - 1616 West Will Rogers Boulevard, Claremore
In 1969 a 20-year dream came true for Mrs. LaNelle Hammett when she opened the doors to Hammett House in Claremore. The restaurant has food as close to home cookin' as you can get and desserts to die for.
7. Ann's Chicken Fry House - 4106 NW 39th Street, Oklahoma City
The history of Ann's Chicken Fry House began in 1948 when it started as a service station along Route 66. The station added a restaurant called Three Bulls Steakhouse but changed the name four years later to Ann's Chicken Fry House. For some of the best chicken fried steak in the world, Ann's is the place to go.
8. Mac's Barbeque - 1030 West Rogers Boulevard, Skiatook
Enjoy premium meats and ingredients cooked the old fashioned way over hickory and pecan wood using their homemade rub. Their award winning sauce is made fresh weekly and is their own recipe. It has become a staple part of the Mac's tradition and taste. Try the Messy Pig-pulled pork, coleslaw, bbq sauce, all on a Philly bun for a delectable bbq sandwich.
9. Murphy's Steakhouse - 1625 SW Frank Phillips Boulevard, Bartlesville
Murphy's Steak House has a diner atmosphere with counter and stools, bare-tabled booths and a friendly staff. The menu includes a number of favorites including, chicken fingers, steaks and burgers...but it's not just the steak that locals recommend when visiting. The Hot Hamburger topped with gravy is a local favorite that Murphy's is famous for.
10. Tim's Place Family Restaurant - 118 East Main Street, Duncan
Serving breakfast and lunch, 6 days a week, Tim's Place is a family favorite for comfort food in Oklahoma. It has all the Oklahoma favorites your heart (or stomach) desires!
11. Railhead BBQ - 13978 South Douglas Boulevard, Guthrie
Not only is this restaurant know for some of the best bbq in the state, but it has the "Best Fried Chicken Ever," according to the Edmond Sun Newspaper.
12. Hen House Cafe - 613 West Broadway Street, Okemah
One of the best places to go in Okemah for comfort food is the Hen House Cafe. The friendly staff, charming atmosphere and homestyle meals make this place a staple in the Sooner State.
13. Kiki's Country Kitchen - 3301 West Cherokee Avenue, Sallisaw
Kiki's Country Kitchen is a family-owned restaurant serving fried catfish, chicken fried steak, burgers and more. This friendly, little restaurant is a gem in Sallisaw and keeps its customers coming back year after year.
14. Clicks Steakhouse - 409 Harrison Street, Pawnee
Since 1962, Clicks has been serving mouthwatering steaks, prime rib and fluffy meringue pies. The cheese fries, fried pickles and homemade rolls should also be added to your list of superb things to try at Clicks.
15. Big Dan's Steakhouse - 3113 Williams Avenue,Woodward
Big Dan's grabs a spot on the list for best steak and salad bar in northwest Oklahoma. The friendly staff, great atmosphere and delicious desserts are added bonuses that make Dan's worth the visit.
