Today, we’re focusing on accommodations in Hocking Hills; in particular, its well-appointed and dazzling new state park lodge. Hocking Hills State Park Lodge is the newest accommodation in the eponymous state park and it’s an accessible and affordable resort-level getaway in Ohio.
Hocking Hills is, without a doubt, the most beautiful and breathtaking place in Ohio. Known for its abundance of waterfalls, caves, and intricate rock formations, there's no place in Ohio quite like Hocking Hills.
Interestingly enough, while the park draws as many as 5 million visitors a year, most don’t stay overnight. Admittedly, many of the lodging options in Hocking Hills are pricey or book up months in advance... until now!
The area's newest accommodation (Ohio's first overnight park lodge in more than 30 years), Hocking Hills State Park Lodge opened in late 2022 and is a game changer. The lodge puts guests in the heart of this rugged and resplendent region and is just minutes from top attractions like Old Man's Cave and Conkle's Hollow.
Each of the lodge's 81 guest rooms comes furnished with luxury linens and high-end amenities, with lovely views of the park and/or pool just outside the window. Some rooms even have private balconies for taking in the scenery!
Of course, there's plenty of adventure to be had at the lodge, too, including a spacious indoor pool and hot tub that invite guests to unwind while soaking up the views from the expansive windows.
There isn't a bad view anywhere in this lodge, in fact, with its spacious common area complete with vaulted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and multiple fireplaces. Can't you imagine yourself cozying up with a book or glass of wine on one of the couches?
When you get hungry from exploring (or simply enjoying a relaxing afternoon by the fire!), the lodge's Rock House Restaurant offers guests an incredible dining experience that highlights the bounty of the Buckeye State, with dishes featuring Ohio-grown proteins and produce, all in an impossible cozy setting.
On a beautiful evening in the Buckeye State, you can even opt to dine al fresco, drinking up the surrounding scenery and enjoying a long and leisurely meal.
The lodge replaces a smaller facility on the same site that was destroyed by fire in December 2016. Several years later, Hocking Hills State Park Lodge is proof positive that, out of tragedy can come great opportunity -- and this dazzling resort is truly a welcome and wonderful addition to Ohio!
